BrowBeat continues the Voyage of the Dark-Eyed Sailor, laying out things gifted the toiler on the sea between 1980-84. Experiments conducted with a 4-track TEAC reel-to-reel recorder emerge here alongside dictaphone and boombox stoned throws, and as Medford settled in Montclair, Oakland in July 1983 - from much back-and-forth jiving twixt Montclair, Stockton, Sacramento and the rest of the Greater Bay Area - the main thrust became Demonstrations of songs with which he hoped to capture the conscience of a band of kings. Four of these Spring 1984 demos did eventually transmogrify into Ophelias songs and vinyl releases: Palindrome, Plaster of Paris, Pretty Green Ice-Box Eyes, Mister Rabbit. and certainly other BrowBeat offerings could have become the same, or may yet do!

These recording further illustrate that, whether beefed up by compatriots in bands or tackled by Medford alone with his battery of musical instruments, the boy-man had something special to share. Most of this stuff still rings rich and true . . . so plagiar his eyes!
